Salary (Grade 6): £32,995 to £37,488 with the potential to progress to £39,607 per annum inclusive of London Weighting, through sustained exceptional contribution

The Services Team within the College of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (CHMLS) are recruiting a Senior Technician in order to support the technical operations of the College’s Medical School. The post holder will specialise in technical support related to the school’s facilities and will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning. These facilities include: clinical skills rooms, simulated hospital wards, 18 communication skills suites and an anatomy suite.

Working within the College’s Services Team, the post holder will ensure that students and staff receive a consistently excellent experience; all activities and operations within teaching and technical spaces are safe, compliant and effective; and the facilities and equipment are used and maintained to the highest standards. 

This is an excellent opportunity for technicians with previous experience in supporting clinical skills and simulation, and are looking to advance their career. The successful candidates will need:

  • To have experience of providing clinical skill technical support.
  • To be familiar with the common equipment used within medical education.
  • Experience of supporting practical teaching in a relevant discipline (e.g. health, life, or medical sciences).
  • To be a confident communicator who can effectively discuss technical matters to people with different levels of knowledge.
  • Experience of adhering to / applying relevant legislation such as: health and safety, procurement, and the Human Tissue Act.
  • To be committed to CPD.

The post holder must be content to work with real human anatomical specimens that have been preserved by plastination.

The successful candidate will be able to: take a leading role in the day-to-day operations, and the management of facilities and resources; supervise others; refine working practices and monitor standards; and assisting the Principal Technical Manager in running the technical service.
