Position Title: Research Assistant / Research Fellow - 15961

Location: Brunel University London, Uxbridge Campus 

Salary: 

Research Assistant: Grade R1 from £36,390 to £38,388 per annum inclusive of London Weighting with potential to progress to £39,432 per annum inclusive of London Weighting through sustained exceptional contribution. (Pro-rata for Part-time) 

Research Fellow: Grade R1 from £40,507 to £43,929 per annum inclusive of London Weighting with potential to progress to £47,671 per annum inclusive of London Weighting through sustained exceptional contribution. (Pro-rata for Part-time) 

Hours: Full-time 

Contract Type: Fixed term for 12 months

The Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Brunel University London is a dynamic hub for research and education, offering cutting-edge programs in areas such as signal processing, communication systems, robotics, and renewable energy technologies. Renowned for its strong industry links and multidisciplinary collaborations, the department fosters innovation and equips graduates with the skills to address real-world challenges in engineering and technology. 

The successful candidate will contribute to the EPSRC-funded IntentMAPS: Anticipating Intent Facilitated by Multi-scale Adaptive Passive RF Sensing project, which focuses on large-scale human activity monitoring in complex environments. The role involves developing advanced signal processing algorithms to support efficient data processing, tracking, and recognition tasks. 

Candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas are highly desirable:

  • Signal processing algorithms
  • Channel modelling
  • Antennas and RF sensing
  • Machine learning for communication systems

The successful candidate may also collaborate with project partners across the UK, which may involve occasional travel. Other responsibilities may also include: Contributing to research projects by assisting research groups or teams. To contribute to the development and submission of research materials, publications and proposals, and to help manage aspects of the project. 

Please note that appointment to this role requires the successful completion of a security screening process conducted by the UKRI Government (NSTIx).
