The College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences is looking to appoint a Principal Technical Specialist within its IT team to take responsibility for managing the software within the college.

This role is instrumental in ensuring continuity of service and availability of our software for both academic staff and students. You will be acting as the primary contact for all software enquiries within the college.

The role is essentially customer-facing, working closely with the broader college IT Team. Acting as the software specialist, this may involve identifying and diagnosing technical problems and finding solutions to these and communicating directly with users in order to resolve them.

You will be helpful, skilled and aim to resolve problems with a methodical, organised and accurate approach. We are looking for a proactive individual who is ready for a new challenge.

You should have experience of supporting the automated deployment of specialist applications using SCCM, ideally those used within an engineering \ technology environment (such as CAD \ FEA packages)

Whilst this is a college position, many of the tools and systems used to provide the software (both to the desktop and remotely) are provided by the University’s central IS services department, and it is expected that the successful candidate would work closely with central teams to deliver an excellent service to our end users.

For further information or to discuss this position, please contact Mr Jeremy Baxter, College IT Manager (CEDPS) – Jeremy.Baxter@brunel.ac.uk

We offer a generous annual leave package plus discretionary University closure days, excellent training and development opportunities as well as a great occupational pension scheme and a range of health-related support. The University is committed to a hybrid working approach.

Closing date for applications: 10 July 2024
