The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and ambitious individual to fast-track their career development as a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Associate. Primarily based in the Estates and Facilities Department at Hillingdon Hospital, this role will play a key part in developing innovation capability within the NHS Trust.

The Innovation Research associate will collaborate with colleagues in the Trust across several department, but Estate and Facilities to start with, and with University based research groups and networks. The post will also connect with external stakeholders, e.g., other NHS Trusts, manufacturers, health tech Innovation hubs. The project focuses on designing and implementing an Innovation and Leadership Programme (ILP) within the Estates and Facilities (E&F) division, piloting innovation capability building in the Trust.

The successful candidate will be involved in codesigning the programme with Brunel University and THH, after initial identification of gaps and of best practice in the sector.

Design innovation involves driving profound cultural change, fostering a strategic, entrepreneurial, collaborative, and proactive environment that emphasises care for both people and the environment. This role will be instrumental in empowering individuals across all levels of the organisation to lead and innovate. 

The benefits of the post include:

-       £2,000 budget for professional development per year

-       27 days’ annual leave, plus 8 days’ Bank Holidays

-       Normal working hours per week are 37.5 hrs, inclusive of 30 mins lunch break.

-       The role will work in the office 5 days a week with a flexible working policy, with core hours being 10-4 and the possibility to do some working from home subject to agreement with the THH manager

-       A budget for professional membership

Ideal candidates will hold a first degree or master’s in industrial design, Service Design, Design Engineering, Innovation, Biomedical Design Innovation (1st or 2:1). Strong knowledge of project management and leadership styles is advantageous, while advanced digital skills in rendering presentations, product and service concepts, process changes, and system design are essential.

The candidates will excel in both product/process innovation development and nurturing people through innovation and leadership. The post will identify the most relevant and appropriate management style within the inclusive and engaged Department of Estate and Facilities which is driven by a clear mandate to efficiency, sustainability, safety and innovation

We seek a creative, curious, reliable, empathetic, and flexible colleague eager to learn and grow. You will need to independently plan and organise your workload, managing multiple activities under tight deadlines. With support and training, you will take ownership of the project, overseeing finances, resources, and timelines effectively.
