 Salary: Grade 8 from:  £45,390 to £58,263   inclusive of London Weighting with potential to progress to £65,236 per annum inclusive of London Weighting. (Pro-rata if Part-time)

We are looking to appoint a Finance Business Partner to join our Finance Directorate, reporting to the CFO.

This role is pivotal in providing strategic financial insight and support to senior stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making and driving sustainable business performance in the University. We are looking for an exceptionally skilled and highly motivated individual who can provide professional leadership on all aspects of University-wide financial management information to inform fact-based decision making.

 Job Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain effective business partnering relationships across all departments within the assigned area of remit, and act as trusted advisor to the leadership team
  • Working in partnership with stakeholders to develop capital and revenue project budgets for areas of responsibility, engaging with colleagues from across the university to understand, collate and prioritise resource needs. Understanding the alignment and articulating projects to Brunel’s strategic objectives
  • Provide high quality advice to your stakeholder and Executive senior management to enable the better financial management of resources
  • Ensure that a culture of customer-focused service delivery is consistently maintained across all aspects of the Finance department’s provision
  • Provide advice and information to and work collaboratively across the Finance function to provide a cohesive service, develop shared insights, priorities and ideas.
  • Pro-actively manage and develop the management accountant supporting the portfolio (if applicable)
  • Communicate effectively with direct report (if applicable) to ensure understanding of goals and expectations, to ensure accurate and timely delivery of tasks

 

The Successful Candidate

The ideal candidate will be confident, and proactive with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. A driven individual who strives to deliver process improvements, has excellent communication skills with attention to detail; able to work flexibly and to deadline.

  • Qualified accountant with sound academic background and logical career progression.
  • Strong business partnering experience, proven track record in a similar sized organisation.
  • Higher education or not for profit sector experience (desirable).
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to develop effective working relationships with a diverse stakeholder group.
  • High level of energy; able to bring financials to life and translate financial information to meaningful information for non-finance stakeholders.
  • Ability to energise and influence a wide spectrum of people, including senior financial and operational professionals.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial systems – Excel (essential), Power BI (desirable), Adaptive Planning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator.
  • An enquiring mind with the confidence to ask questions and challenge the status quo.
  • Hybrid working – required to be on campus at least 3 days per week, up to 2 days per week working from home.
