Brunel Medical School is London’s newest. It builds on Brunel’s existing strengths in Health and Life Sciences education and provides an innovative and proudly different model of medical education to both international and UK ‘home’ students. The foundation of the School coincides with the launch of Brunel’s new Strategy: Wielding Brunel’s World-class Difference.

Established in 2022, Brunel Medical School is embracing this strategy by writing its own curriculum and has a clear vision to advance medical education and healthcare practice whilst moving Brunel forward as an institution. It is shaped by its values of collaboration and inclusivity. It is hoped that the Medical School will feel very much a part of the wider College moving forward.

The School is seeking its next Dean to continue its early success and cement it as a groundbreaking provider of medical education. The School aims to prepare its students for medical and healthcare practice in a changing world and its new Dean will play a large part in ensuring the School meets these ambitions. Priorities for the role include completing of initial accreditation by the General Medical Council and cultivating a culture of research within the School ahead of its first submission to REF 2029. The new Dean will also play a crucial role in maintaining relationships with the many NHS Trusts with which the University is partnered.

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of academic leadership as well as a clinical background and experience of working extensively with the NHS. They will have experience establishing and maintaining a successful Medical School or will have led sustainable change at departmental level. It would be particularly beneficial for candidates to have led a School through GMC accreditation. They will also have a keen interest in pedagogical innovation and will be able to unite teams around a shared vision which incorporates research, education, and student outcomes.

With its substantial track record of providing healthcare education across Allied Health, Brunel Medical School is ideally positioned to become a significant Higher Education Institution for medical education in the coming years.
