The Brunel Educational Excellence Centre (BEEC) is seeking an Academic Skills Transition Adviser, this post will support the expansion of current transition initiatives such as PAL and HeadStart.
Salary (H2): £35,365 to £41,775 per annum incl. London Allowance
The Brunel Educational Excellence Centre (BEEC) aims to promote, support and enhance learning and teaching across the University. The ASK Academic Skills service is an important part of BEEC and offers student-facing learning development support across a wide range of areas, including academic writing, study skills, mathematics and statistics, as well as runs transition initiatives such as Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) and HeadStart.
This post will support the expansion of current transition initiatives such as PAL and HeadStart, as well as create new schemes where relevant, to further support student’s transition into university. This position will be the central contact for academics and students related to PAL and/ or HeadStart, and will manage the day to day running of the schemes while ensuring it aligns with the university strategy of best supporting student’s experience at Brunel University London. It is crucial that candidates have an awareness of issues surrounding student retention and success in higher education; also, having experience of working with students and various departments.
The role calls for excellent organisational and communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of academic staff and students to support curriculum and learning needs. The ability to thrive in a busy environment and willingness to work collegiately is critical to the role.
